The Central Sanskrit University, Delhi, has officially announced the Scheme for Promotion of Sanskrit for the academic year 2025–2026. If you are a student of Sanskrit, Pali, or Prakrit in a recognized institution, this is your opportunity to apply for financial assistance through their prestigious scholarship program.

Who Can Apply?

Students pursuing Sanskrit (or Pali/Prakrit) as a main or optional subject in:

·       Sanskrit Pathashalas

·       Sanskrit Mahavidyalayas

·       Sanskrit Vishwavidyalayas

·       Recognized Schools, Colleges, and Universities (Traditional or Modern Streams)

Eligible academic standards/courses:

·       Purva-Madhyama (1st year / 9th standard & 2nd year / 10th standard)

·       Uttar-Madhyama / Prak-Shastri (1st year / 11th standard & 2nd year / 12th standard)

·       Shastri / B.A. / B.A. (Hons.) (1st to 3rd year)

·       Acharya / M.A. (1st & 2nd year)

·       Vidya-Varidhi / Ph.D. (Sanskrit, Pali, or Prakrit)

Eligibility Criteria – CSU Scholarship 2025-26

A) Eligibility

Traditional Stream

For obtaining the scholarships under Traditional Stream, student must have passed the previous qualifying examination with 60% (General) 55% (OBC) & 50% (ST/ST/PH).

Must have passed 1st year B.A. with 60% overall and 60% in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit and passed two semesters.

B.A.–3rd year or equivalent

Must have passed 2nd year B.A. with 60% overall and 60% in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit and passed two semesters.

M.A.–1st year or equivalent in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit

Must have passed graduation with 60% overall and 60% in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit as special subject.

M.A.–2nd year or equivalent in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit

Must have passed M.A.–1st year with 60% in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit.

Ph.D. or equivalent in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit

Must have passed M.A. in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit with 60% marks.

Note: Merit of all Modern Stream to be calculated on the basis of Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit marks only. Further in Traditional stream or Honours in Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit to be calculated on overall percentage of all subjects.

Rate of Scholarship

The scholarship amount is distributed for 10 months in an academic year (except Ph.D.). The details are as follows:

Rs. 600/- per month for 10 months (Rs. 6,000/- annually)

Shastri/B.A./B.A. (Hons.) – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year or equivalent

Rs. 800/- per month for 10 months (Rs. 8,000/- annually)

Acharya/M.A. – 1st or 2nd year (Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit)

Rs. 1000/- per month for 10 months (Rs. 10,000/- annually)

Vidyavaridhi/Ph.D. (Sanskrit/Pali/Prakrit)

Rs. 2500/- per month for 12 months + Rs. 5,000/- contingency per year (Total: Rs. 35,000/- per year) — Maximum for 3 years
